  1. I think you successfully depicted an athletic event through an artistic lens. The variety of compositions tell me that you thought about and planned how you were taking your pictures, and that they were purposeful.

  2. You captured the motions of swimmers and these photos could show your intention to compose the subjects in your photos.

  3. Your pictures come off as being grainy, giving the pieces an almost victorian bathing pool quality. I can see some compositional elements, but I don't see a LOT of intent.

  4. I agree with Davis; almost all of these are grainy and just feel like random pictures of a swim practice. The composition of your 5th photo is the most engaging to me because of how many individuals are in it.

  5. I wish you would've had more variety this week with your photos. I agree with the above comments about how they're grainy. I also don't see the intent with your photos, they just seem like snapshots. It would've been cool to see you play around with your shutter speed and the water!

  6. A fellow swimmer! As someone who's very used to this scene though, for me your images don't capture anything new, or any of the things that are noteworthy about the sport/the o'dome. Dynamic shots that are fully focused on the swimmer, or maybe interesting angles of the architecture would be more engaging than what I think could easily be photos taken by a teammate with snapchat or a proud mom on their iphone. For like, image 4 and 8, if you'd zoomed in so that the frame encompasses only the swimmer in focus, the image would be given purpose without the irrelevant background people/objects.

More possibilities: take photos from the high dive if you aren't terrified of the height, photos of underneath the bleachers when they have them out for a meet (something most people don't bother to look at), perspective from the ground (as opposed to from above), close-ups of the swimmer's hand or something (as long as the camera doesn't get wet), stop motion of the different strokes, maybe other parts of the o'dome like the indoors court(s)/track, outdoors pool, use the pull up bars outside as props, get a nice scenic shot of goggles and waterbottle in the sun idk, etc.

  7. I think you have made some improvements in the variety of your pictures, but it is not enough, some of your pictures still seem repetitive. And I hope you can work more on the composite of your pictures, although your subjects are aware of that you are taking pictures of them, they are clearly not modeling for you.

  8. I feel like you really captured the energy in competitive swimming! All of these have a strong composition. They're a little grainy though, but looking at your contact sheet I can see your lighting wasn't ideal. Maybe next time try using a tripod; it might help with that.

  10. You did a good job at capturing motion but all your pictures are really grainy.

  11. I love the action shots! The water adds an interesting motion element. The grainy texture to the photos is not immediately noticeable, but once you notice it is very distracting.
