Top Ten

  1. I like how crisp the photos are up close. But the top 10 are a little one note, they don't show much variety in the photo subject or what the subject is doing. The hand picture is the most effective because of the variance of the hand pattern. The rest of the pictures feel a little grey though.

  2. I agree with Davis, that i wish your top 10 had more variety to them. Out of all the mouth pictures, i think the first one is the most successful because it pushes your intent to a point of uniqueness that's very interesting. With that being said, i wish you would've pushed the rest of your photos to a more weird place, which would have made them super interesting. I also would've pushed the contrast a little more!

  3. I really appreciate your intent of creating some interesting photos with mouths, however, you could have make them more interesting. Just some quick thoughts, maybe you can try let your model chew/bite on different foods with different texture (soft, crispy, slimy...) and see what happens.

  4. These photos made me super uncomfortable, so if that's what you were going for then you nailed it. I agree with the previous comments; your first photo is strong but then they just get repetitive. Samara made a great point, if zooming on the mouth is interesting to you then I would experiment with chewing different textures. Also, more contrast would help exaggerate the juiciness of the textures you have here.

  5. Agreeing that variation in what the mouth is doing could be interesting - expressions, eating, when i think of foods I think of colors, so in a black and white photo maybe focus on texture instead. Since you seemed to focus on parts of the body other than the mouth, maybe diversify your final selection so there are less mouths, more hands, elbows, etc

  6. Although the photos are a bit disturbing, they really draw the viewer in. I really appreciate how close you got to the subject. The photos of the mouth came out best when there was a balance to how much was shown above and below the mouth. Like Katherine said that focusing more on texture would push these photos even farther.

  7. Wow, these freak me out a little to be honest! You did a great job capturing skin textures. The contrast in them makes them especially unsettling--hopefully that's what you were going for! I think a little bit more variety would push these even further.

  8. These photos made me extremely uncomfortable, good job! Great texture but your photos are too gray. A higher contrast would have made me even more uncomfortable.

  9. The first photo and the ones featuring skin are really interesting. I think that a focus on the mouth as your subject could be really interesting but try experimenting with different compositions, perspectives, and other things to make the photos more complex.
