Contact Sheets:

Top Ten

  1. The last image is most striking - the intense but tasteful contrast draws the viewers eye directly to the center, and the subject is placed to create visually pleasing symmetry. Overall many of your images use a centered subject to create symmetry and balance.

  2. The implication of the second one is really interesting and artistic. For image 8, if you could have taken it from another angle, it would be a symmetry. Also, you have only 9 photos for top ten lol, did you forget to post another one?

  3. The last one is also my favorite, the stark white and the blurred edges give the branch an almost pressed flower quality which is very interesting. I would challenge you to focus on the rule of thirds in future weeks because these are all roughly symmetrical in nature or close to being symmetrical.

  4. Several of these photos are not sharp which detracts their quality. I don't see intent in the first 2 photos but the angle of your 3rd photo is really engaging. The 4th image doesn't do much for me because the focus on the trunk is not sharp. I agree that your last photo is very successful.

  5. Some of these photos are grainy/blurry (something I frequently do :P ). Although your last photo was the most successful, as many are saying, your 5th one really strikes me due to the sharpness and depth of field.

  6. I'm really fond of image 7/dog though I wish it weren't blurry so that the texture of its nose, muzzle, whiskers would be in focus. It's not a typical shot of a dog, not unheard of either exactly, but enough for it to be interesting with its deep dark values and sharp whites that really stand out against the black. The pinecone image is nice too, how the spikey texture seems to echo in the background (top left, a little on the right) and the symmetrical composition gives it foundation.

I agree that the last image is engaging, for the consistency of it's composition and how it contrasts a bit with the variation of the plant's leaves/branches. It confuses me for looking like a chimeric plant.

Image 8 doesn't bring much interest simply because it's been done so many times before - eyes are a subject that gets singled out all the time though rarely differs in execution. Image 1 is also something I feel like I've seen before, though not to say it's bad per se. The metallic-like texture of the palm leaf in image 9 is unexpected, which I enjoy.

  7. I have to say I like the way you compose most of your pictures, they come out neat, clean and without any distractions. The only problem I can point out is that some of the pictures are grainy, such as the one of the dog (I know how hard it is to photography animals, and the composition is really good) and the 8th one of the leaf (the composition some how looks familiar to me).

  8. As much as I love the dog, the image could have benefited by being sharper on their nose. I understand it can be difficult to photograph animals though! The rest of these are very sharp and nice, and all of them have good composition.

  9. great contrast in most of your pictures. I think the picture of the is nicely shot but I feel like it's just another picture of an eye. The same goes for the candle and the dog.

  10. You did a really good job of creating an obvious focal point in your images. I think some of the photos are a bit blurry, but I feel some of it is intentional.
