Samara Bie - Week 11

  1. I think you could have edited out some distracting elements in the background. My favorite images are your 4th and 10th image. I like your fourth image because you were able to capture her hair moving using stop motion and she is perfectly in the center which I think works because of the angle her face is in. Your 10th image creates this shadows that mimic the movement of her hair.

  2. Some of your images lean more towards the dark side and they need more light to contrast that. I agree with Valentina about editing out the distractions in the background. For example I was interested in the 6th photo but the spider web behind her is distracting and I would have attempted to edit them out.

  3. I think some of these could be edited to have just a little more contrast. The last one really stands out to me because of the way you used her hand to make interesting shadows on her face.

  4. I think the composition of your photos are great. However, the details would be more obvious and the photos would be sharper if you could brightened them. In the image 10, the intention of making shadows by the hand makes the photo attractive.

  5. I agree with the previous comments that your photos could have benefited from being edited a little more - like editing out the distracting elements or adding more contrast. I think your second image is stunning because of the asymmetrical composition and the angle you took it at. The 8th is the least successful image to me because it lacks an artistic or interesting component, whereas the 10th photo is successful because of the stunning shadows on her face from her hand.

  6. The previous comments nailed the editing aspects that need to be addressed in these photos. I admire how tight your shots are, so that the focus is really on the model's face. I know your style tends to be serene and not high in contrast, but given the subject matter, more contrast would help these become more dramatic. Right now they're in between that serene feeling you tend to achieve and a high contrast dramatic aesthetic; I would recommend choosing to push it one way or the other to avoid them feeling left unedited.

  7. These have such an unique milky quality to them, I really appreciate that! I don't think you really need to push the first couple a certain way just because of the way the light bounces off of the face of the model. I think the grey lighting does create a sense of dreaminess that is previously mentioned, but some of the later photos could use the contrast.

  8. Your use of angles is very purposeful and creates a dynamic image. I also personally feel like the contrast is perfectly fine - it gives a soft feeling to the photographs.
