Davis Foster Week 9 Photos

Top 10 Photos
Disclaimer: I'm going for a haunted Florida theme potentially for my final project so let me know anything I can/should shoot or do to make this effective. Also let me know if the gazebo photo is effective, I tried to photoshop an old child in there.

  1. Your fourth image is really interesting! Often we talk about making each image crisp and clean, but I think the blurriness is successful in creating movement and an interesting picture.

  2. i like the textures in your photographs, but some of your close ups are not completely in focus. I enjoy the high contrast you used in your 7th image and would have liked to see more of that in the rest of your images, at least the ones with texture because some of them appear grey.

  3. The burry one is really good and the person in the photo looks transparent which is interesting.

  4. I saw the 4th image before I read your disclaimer and it was freaking me out tbh, so I think it was pretty effective lol! I think your 7th image is my personal favorite because it's kind of hinting at nature overtaking technology--I think that'd be interesting subject you could take advantage of if you go with the haunted Florida theme. You capture texture really well, but I think a few of them could benefit from having a less distracting background.

  5. The photo with the child is very obviously photoshopped and really takes away from the effect but there are ways to make it look more realistic such as using a motion blur to match the background amoung other things.

  6. Images 3,4,9, & 10 all creep me out so nice job! The others get lost because of the distracting backgrounds and not being totally sharp. Image 10 is over-exposed but I can see that was a mindful decision so I appreciate that you really pushed that editing and made it obvious because it enhances the creepiness of that statue. High contrast and intentional editing will help your photos be "spooky" because I feel like high contrast is more dramatic and eye-catching.

  7. I think you did a great job capturing the texture of different objects (stone, water, wood...). and the fourth picture is very cool (which at first I didn't see the girl sitting there so I thought that picture doesn't make any sense at all), I appreciate that you are always trying to do something creative, not just simply taking pictures. however I notice picture #7 is not quite in focus like others.

  8. I really get the feeling that you were going for. Im not really crazy about the blurred gazebo because it doesn't feel entirely intentional. I agree with Jenna, that the high contrast is very effective for the "creepiness" you were trying to convey. However, the photo of the flower with the current editing you have almost makes the photo too busy with that high of a contrast to really focus on the subject. Also be careful with the cropping of some of the photos of the statues. I think the way the head is cropped in the second to last photo is slightly off. Overall, I really like your theme! Keep pushing yourself!

  9. The statues are a great source of organic texture! The detail shots are really strong! I don't think the blurred image is the most interesting, but it fits with the style of the others.
