Valentina Gil- Week 12

I know Kashif told me not use costuming for my pictures but I told my model to dress casually and he ended wearing his Colombian jersey and has a huge Colombian flag hung on his room, so I thought it'd be appropriate. As for my second model I wish she would have given me more time to shoot her because she has really Hispanic features but I think I can reshoot her and capture more interesting photos. I tried to take picture of some objects not sure if I was successful.

  1. To me the objects that you can see in the mirror are slightly distracting, but I really like the concept of him putting on the rosary. The second and third image with the flag in the background - I love that you are able to use the flag as a prop and I would really consider pushing that farther! I really love that you did an overlay with the beach scene in one of your photos, it's very interesting! I also really think the half shaved body is very interesting. I can't wait to see how you shoot the girl model to highlight those features. Maybe you can shoot the girl and boy together.

  2. Like Angelica said, I think some of the things in the background can be a little distracting and make your images seem less purposeful. For instance the picture with the half-shaved body is really cool but the white on the edge of the background ruins the intent.

  3. I can definitely see where you're going with your photos, which is awesome! Some of them have a few technical errors (grainy, distracting compositions), but you can easily clean that up for the final project. I'm really loving the image with Miami (?) combined with the man. It creates so many questions (making it more engaging), maybe experiment more with layering your photos?

  4. Your first photo was definitely the strongest concept-wise because it both appears candid and shows intent. Some of the others look too staged and the effect that you are going for is lost on me. Your forth image has potential but having it divided in half makes it too busy

  5. I like the half and half vibe you have happening, but as everyone else has said, we want you to push that further. Use face paint, show the passionate sports fervor combined with another element you want to show. The one that is most effective for me is the 4th image which really comes together for me despite the claims that it is too busy. Yes, it could be less busy but I think it makes it's point really poignantly,.

  6. I think your photos successfully demonstrate your concept of culture and they are narrative as your photos always did. But I would suggest you to pay more attention to the details, such as things in the background, because even the tiniest things in a photo could completely change the story you wanted to tell with the photos or even ruin a photo. Overall you are on the right track and can't wait to see what you gonna do with your girl model!

  7. All of these have really successful compositions! The way they look almost casual, yet obviously still set up and framed, remind of a documentary. There's some graininess and blur in a few of these, but like the others said, that can be touched up.
